Tai Chi Chuan

Tai Chi or Tai Chi Chuan is an internal martial art from China. It contains a wide variety of techniques including strikes, locks, holds, breaks, throws, weapons and much more. The study of Tai Chi begins with the study of the human body, and the development of a vary highly refined understanding of body mechanics. Later on students will begin to learn about other internal aspects of the human body including things like how the chemical processes within the body work, a deep under standing of breath and its uses and effect on the body as well as internal energetics. Tai Chi students will also develop a very high level understanding of psychology, the mind and its relationship with the body.

Tai Chi was created as a way for older kung fu masters to be able to defend themselves well into their 80′s and 90′s. Because of this Tai Chi has a very strong health component, and in-fact many people in the west or only just beginning to discover the martial potential of the art. Although there is beginning to be more interest and awareness of the combat potential of Tai Chi, it is still very difficult to find someone in the states who can fight with it effectively.
